    Evening Julia,

    good luck with the book,

I don’t know if you cover ex battery hens in it (it’s not arrived yet), but they are excellent for beginners (they may be a bit scruffy, but they are definitely female and laying!)

I volunteer for the BHWT and while we’ve homed thousands of Girls in the last three years, we still need to raise awareness and a link from your site would really help with this.

Do have a look at our website and I hope you can help.

    Best wishes

    Ian

    Hi Ian
Yes – thanks for posting – we had a super ex-bat called 007. She has a chapter all to herself in the book. I see your charity is changing its name and perhaps its image as, with any luck, caged birds become less common (with the 2012 EU legislation). My hope is that we can soon return to a situation where domestic hens live happily side-by-side with humans. It’s only 50 years ago that the industrialists took over. Time for us to take back responsibility for our food.
